Who’d have considered that geek would really be with the term trendy and would actually be a constant fashion trend? Not those people who thought up the term, dork, that’s undoubtably. Anyhow, since eye conditions or disorders are aspect of life for many folks and several fashion professionals literally deal with near-sightedness, far-sightedness, astigmatism, a combination of these and other complicated eye dilemmas, it’s great that they have integrated optical items into their style must-haves.
The geek-chic look is a well-calculated taste. Loving novels, being intelligent and wearing glasses do not quickly achieve this fashion. You need to pay close attention to specifics and have a knowledge of which look suits you best.
As an illustration, you have bought a set of Hugo Boss glasses, just like the 0046; these glasses have dependable eyeglass frames (or full-rims) that have a considerably retro attractiveness, like the ones used in the 60s and 70s which many taunted as nerdy-looking. Young people nowadays make such solid-looking eyeglass frames work for them by paying attention to their facial features and proportions. Big or oversized solid support frames are trendy but if they’re not in scale with your face, the whole look will quickly be affected. You could well look like Professor Trelawney in Harry Potter whose prescription glasses fully overwhelm her face.
UK opticians also recommend choosing a colour or print that mirrors your very own fashion. Just because you need to wear “oldies” lenses (just like reading lenses, multi-focals and varifocals), this doesn’t mean you have to just settle for the basics. The geek-chic style has a flexible appeal that goes beyond age and can function two ways. You can either go all trendy laid-back with your Bieber hair (that exaggerated side-part) or faux-hawk and put on horn-rims or nerd glasses, which is basically street manner, or you can totally deck out with a designer collection and quirk it up with a pair of funky-coloured or -printed frames and… voila! Geek-chic! Exactly the same idea applies for young girls. A fantastic style inspiration would be Emma Watson, who not just sports short hair right now (which many young ladies cannot pull off), but discovers how to sport her thick glasses with just about any get-up be it a ordinary jeans-and-shirt combo, an all-designer ensemble as well as a floral, girly outfit. She’s brilliant, she likes to read, needs to wear spectacles to see visibly – quite likely to be branded nerdy but nobody can dispute her capability to make nerdy absolutely posh.
Geek-chic is about self-confidence. So what if you’re blind as a bat? The key is to still push awesome design forward and make those glasses work to your style advantage.
Never say never for the most striking preference of fashion. No matter your eye glasses grade is, make time to reinvent yourself.
